I've been a resident of Citrus County my entire life. For the most part I've lived in Inverness, but for various reasons I've ended up in Hernando.
The topic of my thread is that of the outright corruption of the Citrus Country Probation office (Felony).
I am not the offender. However I live with and share the expense of said probation.
The offender is my girlfriend of 8 years and mother of a 5 year old boy. Unfortunately she is very gullible and yes she does have a taste for marijuana. Due to her gullible nature, she ended up with a Felony controlled substance charge, due to a police officer finding a pill in his cruiser after she got out of it. She took a plea bargain due to a 'withhold adjudication' promise.
The offense was in Sumter county, as she was coming off of the interstate. She had her probation transferred to Citrus, as that's where she and I reside.
Her probation began as I expected, however it has turned into a nightmare. Her P.O claims that people keep 'calling in' about my girlfriend in regards to her doing drugs all over Florida. How do I know this is not the case? She is a stay at home mother that does not leave her house, and I work at home, so I'm with her 24/7. I'm with her everywhere she goes, and when she sleeps. There is absolutely ZERO time at which she could be doing coke or various other drugs in 'Tampa' or the other places the P.O has reported.
The 'so-called' phone calls aren't the only issue. This P.O has done absolutely nothing to research the caller or to do anything about it. Now, if the only problem with these phone calls was a drug test every other day, that's fine. She would pass them all, as she has. However, each one costs $70, along with $100 a week in NA meetings.
When she first started, she was told that regardless of the amount of calls, the maximum of forced randoms per week was one. That has since changed. Now she is being tested up to THREE times per week, all of which costing $70 per.
The P.O will not talk to me to get a statement on the matter. In regards to not being able to afford the tests, my girlfriend was told quote, 'the pawn shops are open'.
Not only that, but due to my girlfriends kidney problems, she had tested positive one out of 40+ times, which was later tested by a lab and proven negative. That single positive result caused the P.O to call DCF, which brought even more drama into our lives.
She has repeatedly asked for the grievance information for offenders, which has been blown off several times.
The probation officers name is R. Glenn. She was a former DCF employee.
Various other offenders are reporting false phone calls being reported by the same P.O that are then followed by $70 drug tests every other day.
To me it looks like a corrupt money grab. I'm not sure if the P.O is pocketing the money, or the office is corrupt itself, but it is corrupt. Many attempts to contact the supervisor have failed, and my girlfriend was told directly that they were friends from high school, and that the supervisor would side with the P.O regardless.
We are attempting to get more information regarding grievances. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do as a citizen on the sidelines. I will be attempting to email state officials as well as the DOC and FDLE regarding this matter. I doubt it will get anywhere, but I figure eventually someone will see this and add to it, as I know we are not the only ones.
